Edcouch – Tereso Guzman, Sr., 86, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021 surrounded by his family at his home in Edcouch. He was born January 15, 1935 to Jose and Tomasa Guzman in Laguna Seca Ranch in Edinburg, TX. Tereso was a long-time musician and recorded several CDs. He is survived by his wife, Margarita Guzman; son, Gabriel (Teresa) Guzman; daughters, Sylvia Guzman, Nora (Rolando) Guzman Lopez, Alma Rosa (Olivia Rivera) Guzman, and Ileana Guzman. Also surviving him are 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Julio Vasquez; sisters, Teodora (Cecilio) Leal, Teresita (Daniel) Rodriguez; and numerous nephews and nieces. Tereso is preceded in death by his son, Tereso Guzman, Jr.; his parents, Jose and Tomasa Guzman; brothers, Crisoforo Guzman, Flavio Guzman, Antonio Vasquez; and sister, Elida (Pedro) Rivera.
Viewing will be Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 12 noon to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Viewing will continue Wednesday, March 24, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m.at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsa with Father Cesar Partida as celebrant. Everyone attending Mass will have their temperature checked before entering the church. Interment will follow the Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Anahuac Community Cemetery in Edcouch.
