Sarah Tamez

Monte Alto - Sarah Elizabeth Tamez, 34, was unexpectedly called back home on January 4, 2021 to be with her Lord and Savior. Sarah was an accomplished artist/photographer having been the first graduate in her family to have earned a Masters in Photography. She held the title of Instructor of Photography for the School of Art at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Sarah was loved by all she met as she held a charm that was unmeasurable. Sarah was an advocate for women, the LGBTQ, civil, and animal rights. Sarah was also involved in programs such as OVAVP, which provides services to survivors of abuse.  Sarah was a force of nature, with a kind soul.

Sarah is survived by both her parents, Juan M. Tamez Sr. and Juana M. Tamez, her maternal grandmother: Josefa Ramirez, and by her siblings: April (Marco) Chavez, Juan Miguel Tamez Jr., Edna Tamez, and Joanna Tamez; Nieces and nephews: Delilah, Jacob, Jacyln, Ashlee, Matthias, Makayla, Maverick, and Morgan and her great-nephew Manny; as well as her beloved fur babies Copper, Coco, Taco Bell, Pepper, Ambrose, Prudence, and Zelda. Sarah is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Andres and Alicia Tamez, maternal grandfather Amado Ramirez, and prima-hermana Bonnie Tamez. The world has truly lost a piece of sunshine, Sarah will be missed dearly by all.

Viewing will be Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Viewing will continue Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by departure for Interment at 11:00 a.m. at Lasara Cemetery, 12815 Cemetery Rd. in Lasara. Cardoza Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
