ELSA – Raul Arispe, 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, TX. He was born May 28, 1949 to Carlos Barba and Carmen E. Arispe in Elsa, TX.
Raul was married to Elma Portales for 49 years. He and his wife lived and raised their family in Elsa, Texas. In his senior year of high school, Raul was a prominent leader of the Edcouch- Elsa Hispanic Civil Rights Walkout of 1969. He worked with Holt Caterpillar for over 25 years. Raul will be forever remembered for his love and dedication to family, his love of history, and his vibrant manner of storytelling.
Raul is survived by his wife, Ma. Elma Arispe; son, Raul (Veronica Iris) Arispe, II; daughters, Monica Concepcion Arispe and Marissa Margot (Jose Angel) Arispe-Marmolejo; 6 grandchildren; 6 nieces; 7 nephews; numerous grandnieces and grandnephews; sister, Mary G. A. Betancourt. He is preceded in death by parents, sister, brother- in-law, and brother.
A Memorial Service, to commemorate his life, will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Cardoza Funeral Home Chapel in Edcouch.
