LA BLANCA- Rafaela Guerrero, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, departed this life on September 10, 2024, in Edinburg, Texas. Born on March 13, 1948, in Mexico, Rafaela graced the world with her benevolence and unwavering commitment to uplifting those in need, embodying a spirit of kindness that was felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Rafaela's heart found solace in her commitment to her community, where for over four decades, she stood as a devoted member of the Elsa Methodist Church. Her spirit thrived in service, always seeking ways to assist those around her, embodying the true essence of love and altruism. She had an intrinsic bond with nature, as evidenced by her love for gardening, where she nurtured both her plants and the hearts of her loved ones. Her passion for cooking was equally pronounced; she delighted in preparing her favorite Mexican dishes, often bringing family and friends together around her table to share not just meals, but moments filled with laughter and warmth.
Her legacy will be carried on by her devoted children: Samuel Guerrero (Patricia), David Guerrero (Jennifer), Irene Guerrero, Belinda De La Cruz (Javier) and Jaime Guerrero (Kimiko Villarreal). Additionally, she leaves behind a sense of wonder and love in the hearts of her ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who will forever treasure the memories made in her nurturing embrace.
Rafaela was blessed with a close-knit family, including her brothers Santos, Manuel, Ernesto, Pedro Jr., Shadrach, Leonel, and Alberto Leija, along with her sisters Josefina Gutierrez, Juanita Segura, Sylvia Hernandez and Jesusa Leija Almaraz. They shared countless memories, laughter, and support through the seasons of life.
In the wake of her passing, we remember those who have gone before her—her late siblings Bertha Reyna, Arnulfo Leija, Dionicio Leija and her beloved parents Pedro Leija and Angela Garcia Leija—whose spirits reunite with hers now in a harmonious realm of everlasting love.
Family will receive friends on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service at Serenity Funeral Chapel in Edcouch.
