Maria Luisa Reyna

EDCOUCH-Maria Luisa Reyna, 75 went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at her Edcouch residence. Maria Luisa was born April 14, 1948 in Edcouch, Texas to Luz and Eulalia Castillo.
Maria Luisa is preceded in death by her parents, Luz and Eulalia Castillo; brothers, Santos Castillo, Noe Mario Castillo and Jesus Castillo; sister, Maria Gloria Garcia.

Mrs. Reyna was a devoted teacher for 24 years. She began her teaching with Weslaco ISD and then later transferred to La Villa ISD where she retired. She loved getting to know her students and was proud to have touched the lives of so many. 

Maria Luisa is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Eliodoro Reyna; son, Eliseo (Melissa) Reyna; daughter, Magdalena 'Maggie' (Ramon) Guzman; granddaughters, Savanna Reyna and Amanda Reyna; grandsons, Abraham Buentello, II, Javier Reyna and Gabriel Guzman; sister, Leonor Leal; brother, Juan M. 'Johnny' Castillo.

Viewing will be Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Chapel in Edcouch. Funeral Mass will be Friday, December 1, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St Theresa of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Edcouch. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco. Having the distinguished serving as pallbearers will be: Jesus Castillo, Jr., Jeffrey Castillo, Rene Castillo, Rolando Garcia, Santos Castillo and David Bazan. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Abraham Buentello, II, Javier Reyna and Gabriel Guzman.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Serenity Funeral Chapels of Edcouch.
