SAN ANTONIO - Maria Alicia Pena, 77 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 in San Antonio. Alicia was born on April 1, 1947 in Mercedes, Texas.

A dedicated bank manager, Alicia’s professionalism and warmth touched the lives of many in her community. Beyond her career, she was a passionate supporter of the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs, her love for football reflecting her spirited personality. Alicia's culinary talents shone brightly in her kitchen, especially with her famous pecan pies, which were a staple at family gatherings and brought smiles to all who had the pleasure of indulging in her delicious creations.

Alicia  adored traveling the world alongside her husband, Miguel who was a dedicated member of the military, fostering a deep appreciation for different cultures and experiences. However, her greatest joy came from the cherished moments spent with her children and grandchildren who will forever carry her love and kindness in their hearts. Summer days were filled with laughter and warmth as she created lasting memories with them, a testament to the loving matriarch she was. Alicia also loved the holidays, Christmas being her favorite. She loved to decorate the house with beautiful Christmas decorations and enjoyed watching Christmas movies with her family. Her favorite Christmas song was “Feliz Navidad” 

Alicia is preceded in death by her loving husband Miguel Pena, Jr., her in laws who adored her very much Miguel and Josefina Peña.

Left to cherish Alicia's memory are her loving children, Celia (Felix Torres) Pena and Victor Pena, grandchildren Irene (Zach) Davis, Maricela Celia Torres, Ariana Torres, and Miguel Victor Pena. Alicia is also survived by her brother in laws, Carlos (Yolanda) Peña and Idelfonso “Poncho” (Josefina) Peña and sister in law Margarita (Reynaldo) Arteaga. Alicia also leaves behind her nieces Laura  Yvette (Greg) Camarillo, Leticia Yvonne Conde, Clarissa Rae(Mark) De La Fuente, Rosa Maria Arteaga, Rosalinda Peña, Melinda Peña and Veronica (Eric) Rodriguez and nephews Stevan (Lidia) Arteaga, Carlos Daniel (Siobhan) Pena.

Family and friends will gather on Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. at De Leon Funeral Home located at 702 E. Expressway 83 Pharr, Texas 78577. As per Maria's wishes, cremation will follow at a later date.

Maria Alicia Peña will forever be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and loving spirit. May she rest peacefully in the embrace of the love she spread throughout her life.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dr. Joseph Conde and staff at Serenity Funeral Chapels located on 1401 E. Santa Rosa Ave Edcouch, Texas 78538.
