PHARR- Manuel Barba Villanueva, 75, was taken home by the Holy Spirit to meet our Lord Jesus and our Heavenly Father on May 29, 2024 in Harlingen, Texas. Manuel was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.
He is preceded by his parents Jesus Barba, Carmen Villanueva and his sister Teresa Barba.
He is survived by his wife Maria R. Barba, his three daughters Monica, Veronica, Dinorah, his sons in law Martin Dominguez, Mario Pedraza and his grandkids Megan, Diego, Mario, Natalia, Mariana, Isabella and Emmanuel and a living miracle of a great-grandson Mateo.
Manuel was a devoted father, hardworking man and man of faith. He married Maria Cardona in 1976 and lived in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon before settling in Pharr, Texas. He graduated from UANL with a Bachelors in Mechanical-Electrical Engineering, and continued his studies in Computer Science. He was also an entrepreneur who established different businesses in pharmaceuticals and computer systems.
Manuel was known for his love of music, reading, politics and landscaping. A very studious and logical man, he enjoyed spending time alone to catch up on the news of the world. There was never a mental challenge that he wouldn't take head-on. He always strived to learn something new and expand his knowledge.
Manuel was a peaceful man, a voice of reason, promoter of peace and love to those around him.
Family will receive friends Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at De Leon Funeral Home Chapel in Pharr. Funeral Mass will be Monday, June 3, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen.
