MCALLEN/BROWNSVILLE-Magdalena Olivares, age 80, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. Magdalena was born in Brownsville, TX to Francisco and Agustina Yzaguirre. She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Olivares, Sr.; parents, Francisco and Agustina Yzaguirre; brothers, Felipe Benavides, Pedro Yzaguirre, Francisco Yzaguirre; sisters, Josefa Munivez and Guadalupe Salinas. Magdalena was a faithful and devout Catholic and would attend mass with her husband at St Jude Catholic Church in Pharr. She also loved praying for others in their time of need. She is survived by her sons, Antonio (Marisa) Olivares, Jr. and Jaime (Gwen) Olivares. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and brother, Roberto Yzaguirre.
Viewing will be held Monday, July 18, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with the recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Cardoza Funeral Home Chapel in Edcouch. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. at St Jude Catholic Church in Pharr. Burial will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, Texas. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Cardoza Funeral Home of Edcouch.
