Pharr - Loren Fred Pogue, 56, went to be with the Lord Monday, February 28, 2022 at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen. Loren was born September 4, 1965 to Loren Freddy and Maria Alberta Pogue in Anchorage, AK. The Veteran community is in disbelief and shock as news of his passing spread through the entire area that he continued to serve. Loren was a good friend and mentor to many. He served as a District Commander for the VFW-Veterans of Foreign Wars for District 18, RGV & Laredo & all of South Texas. He was a District Commander for the American Legion, and a Past Commander for the DAV, Disabled American Veterans. Loren worked tirelessly to make sure the Veterans of South Texas were taken care of, advocating wherever he could. He continued his “service” to his country through the countless hours he volunteered where he was needed until his death. He was committed to his family and served as an inspiration in setting a standard for integrity and for faithfully recognizing the tremendous gift of freedom. Loren had a deep heart of service and compassion and extended that to those he loved and in service to his country. We pay tribute to his efforts and hard work in all he did in spite of the war within, as he continued in the challenges faced by the invisible wounds of war. Staff Sergeant Loren F. Pogue was a Combat Veteran of the Gulf War, serving in Iraq and Kuwait and served in many duty stations overseas. He served in the US Army and the US Marine Corp, retiring after over 20 years of Active duty and additional years in the Reserves. Loren learned many trades in the Military, he was a Motor Transport Operations Chief, and a Truck driver in the Civilian life. He enjoyed what he did, and had a passion for being on the road. He is survived by his loving wife, Irma Patricia Gomez Pogue; children, Loren Daniel Pogue, Nanako Pogue Higa, Jacobo Fuentes, Jr., Loren Julius Pogue, Elias Giovanni Fuentes, Sofia Patricia Pogue, Loren Fred Pogue II, Christina Faith, Debra Wilson, Andrea Pogue and Katherine Pogue; 3 grandchildren; his parents, Loren and Maria Pogue; siblings, Loren Leo Pogue, Loren Paul Pogue, Loren Dante Pogue, Tania Pogue and two feline pals, Tiger and Rosie.
