Julian Ybarra

June 9, 1954 — December 29, 2012

Elsa- Julian “Jay” Ybarra, 58, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco. He was born in Sunnyside, WA on June 9, 1954.

Julian was a Marine Vietnam Veteran serving his country with honor from Feb 25, 1972 to March 15 1975. Julian received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

He is survived by his wife, Diana Ybarra, his children: Charles (Marissa) Ybarra, Anthony (Linda) Ybarra, Kevin Ybarra, Kerry (Vanessa) Ybarra and, sisters, Herlinda (Ramon) Rios, Evangelina Garcia, Carol Tamez, Cruz Tamez, Elvia (Luis) Tamez and Corina (Tony) Romero, brothers, Jaime (Edna) Tamez, Johnny Ybarra and John (Liz) Tamez. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eloy Julian and Herlinda Ybarra, and brother Charles Albert Ybarra.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

Chapel Service will be Wed, January 2, 2013 at Cardoza Funeral Home Chapel at a time to be announced later.

Burial will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
