Edinburg - Ismael “Smiley” Aguilar, 61, passed away to be with our Lord June 25, 2021 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Katy, Texas. He was born June 9, 1960 to Hilario and Maria Rita Aguilar in Edcouch, Texas. Ismael enlisted and served in the United States Marine Corp and obtained the rank of Sargeant. He went on to study IT systems and worked at Hermès Music for many years. Ismael is survived by his wife, Sara Alicia Aguilar; daughters, Glinda Pacheco, Abigail (Glenn) Hoover, and Stephanie Aguilar; and was very proud of his grandchildren, Gabriella, Josiah, Lilah and Alaina. He is also survived by his brother, Pablo Aguilar; sisters, Teresa Gonzalez, Mary Weller, Rosa Molina, Julie Quintero, Rita Beltran, Marivel Aguilar, and Marisela Aguilar; and 11 nieces and 8 nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hilario and Maria Rita Aguilar; and brother, Tony Aguilar.
Viewing will be Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be Friday, July 2, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 Inspiration Rd, Mission, TX 78572.
