Guadalupe Ramos

EDCOUCH – Guadalupe “Wally” Ramos, 72, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. He was born November 4, 1944 to Benito, Sr. & Vicenta Ramos in Edcouch.

Mr. Ramos served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. For his unselfish act of bravery having saved two of his comrades lives during battle, Guadalupe was awarded the Silver Star. After serving in the Army, Guadalupe enlisted and served for nearly 20 years in the United States Marine Corp. He was truly an American Hero.

Guadalupe is survived by his brothers, Benito (Leonor) Ramos, Jr., Feliciano (Herlinda) Ramos, Sergio Ramos, Alberto (Lupita) Ramos, Jaime (Peggy) Ramos, and Rene (Gricelda) Ramos; sister, Juanita Galvan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jose Ramos; and sister, Nora Baptista.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Viewing will continue Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Edcouch. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans State Cemetery in Mission.
