Elsa – Francisco “Panchito” Ambriz, 94, passed away peacefully Monday, March 27, 2017 at Valley Grande Manor, Weslaco. He was born February 28, 1923 in Cadereyta, NL, Mexico. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carmen, parents, Tomas and Manuela Ambriz, and sisters, Margarita and Consuelo Rios. He is survived by his children: Janie (Enrique) Zarate, Bertha (Albert) Gracia, Francisco (Teri) Ambriz, Rosa (Carlos) Ochoa, Manuel (Imelda) Ambriz, and Mary (Joel) Pena. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Panchito worked as Night Watchman at Elsa Canning Co. After retiring, Panchito kept very active as he strolled the City of Elsa, always accompanied by his faithful dogs. The Ambriz family would like to extend their gratitude for all who went to visit Panchito at the nursing home.
Viewing will be held Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. Viewing will continue Friday, with Funeral Mass scheduled for 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Elsa. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Weslaco. In lieu of flowers, please make charitable contributions to Fountain of Mercy Ministries, 3701 S. Westgate, Weslaco, TX 78596.
