Esmarilda Contreras

EDCOUCH-Esmarilda Contreras, 67 went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 19, 2025 in Mercedes, Texas. Esmarilda was born on January 30, 1957 in Mercedes, Texas to Moises Altamirano and Maria Montelongo.

Esmarilda cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren, who were the bright lights of her life. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering spirit will be profoundly missed.

Esmarilda is preceded in death by her parents, Moises and Maria Altamirano; brothers, Moises Altamirano and Ismael Altamirano.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Arturo (Anna) Contreras, Delma (Gilbert) Salinas, Sandy Contreras, Mary (Manuel) Ybarra, Jesse (Kathy) Contreras, Jimmy (Yesenia) Contreras, Andrew (Margarita) Contreras; siblings, Heliberto Martinez, Lorenzo Altamirano, Gloria Altamirano, Yolanda Garza, Mary Contreras, Delia Altamirano and Aida Altamirano. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Family and Friends will gather Tuesday, January 21, 2025 and Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. both evenings at Serenity Funeral Chapel in Edcouch. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Edcouch. Interment will follow at Anahuac Community Cemetery in Edcouch.

In this time of sorrow, we take comfort in the love she shared and the memories that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in eternal peace.
