Services

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. Monday, May 6, at Cardoza Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Edcouch. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.

In lieu of flowers the family would like consideration of donations to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.


Monte Alto, TX

Alicia R. García was born in Nordheim, Texas December 14, 1930 and passed away

on May 3, 2013 at the age of 82 in Monte Alto, TX.

Alicia is survived by Mike García, her husband of 57 years; her five children,

Jaime Humberto García of Brownsville, TX, Velda Garcia Jones and husband Andrew

of San José, CA, Melba Goode of San José, CA, Nora Miller and husband John of

Modesto, CA, and Panfilo García and wife Lydia Puente of Austin, TX; her eight

grandchildren, Terilyn and Jimmy Goode, Maggie and Dwight Miller, Emma and Anna

Jones, and Mateo and Paolo García. She is also survived by brothers and sister

Arnoldo Rios, Diana Lozano, Ruben Rios, and Arturo Rios as well as numerous

in-laws and nieces and nephews.

Alicia found great happiness in life. She found great pleasure in cooking and

in teaching others to cook. She took joy in her role as host when entertaining

others. While living in California, one of her favorite yearly outings was to

the opera. Alicia always expressed great love for those in her life. Most of

all, Alicia had a great sense of humor that never ended. She will be missed by

family members and many friends.
