Edcouch-Abelardo Tijerina, Jr., 86, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at his residence in Edcouch, Texas. Abelardo was born on October 18, 1935 to Abelardo Tijerina and Maria Saldana in San Manuel, Texas. He is survived by six wonderful children, Evelyn Villanueva (Ramon), Juanita Ledesma (Juan), Norma Tijerina, Miguel Tijerina, Ruben Tijerina (Cindy), and Elizabeth Tijerina. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; brother, Leonel Tijerina; daughter-in-laws, Guadalupe Tijerina, Tonie Tijerina, and Elena Tijerina. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carolina Tijerina; sons, Abelardo Tijerina, Rodolfo Tijerina, Jesus Tijerina; granddaughter, Melissa Tijerina; grandson, Ruben James Tijerina; parents, Abelardo Tijerina and Maria Saldana; siblings, Alicia Castillo, Marcelino Tijerina, Raul Tijerina, Juanita Gonzalez, Julio Tijerina, Jose Tijerina, Angelita Lopez and Leandro Tijerina.
Viewing will be Friday, June 17, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Cardoza Funeral Home Chapel in Edcouch, Funeral Mass will be Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Edcouch. Interment will follow at Raymondville Memorial Cemetery in Raymondville, Texas. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Cardoza Funeral Home of Edcouch, Texas
